Welcome to the 5th grade Vestavia Rockets! I know every boy and family on this team so I am excited to coach this group! I wanted to send out a quick introductory email, but there will certainly be more information to come.
>> My goals for the season are to first have fun and develop camaraderie on the team, but I also look forward to teaching the game of basketball to the boys! I love basketball because it truly is a team sport. Of course we want to win, but most important is the development of each boy as a player. I am very excited about this team and I think we will be very competitive but also have a lot of fun.
Our roster is as follows, with jersey sizes listed as well:
>> Head Coach: Brian Brunson
>> Assistant Coach: Need 2 volunteers--1 for bench coach and 1 to run the scorebook or board each game.
>> Jersey size Short size
>> Cole Brunson Youth L Youth L
>> Noah Gantzhorn Youth L Youth L
>> Ethan Cranfield Youth M Youth M
>> Davis Stone Youth L Youth L
>> Colin McKay Adult S Adult S
>> Matthew Ellis Youth M Youth M
>> Turner Harpole Youth L Youth L
>> Please confirm the above sizes are correct and send me 3 jersey number requests in the next 48 hours as they need to be ordered very soon.
>> The earliest we will start practice will be November 1st. Most of our practices will be at Liberty Park Elementary, but we could also have a few practices or scrimmages at other locations, ideally Dolly Ridge since Cahaba Heights is blocked off for girls basketball only. I should have the final practice schedule early next week at the latest. I know there may be conflicts with football early in November and we will work around that the best we can. Games will start the first Saturday in December and run through early February with playoffs at the end of the season. There will also be a couple of weeknight games at this age. .
>> Please let me know if you have any questions, and also let me know if I need to add a spouse's email to the email thread (most players only had one email listed). Also send me cell phone numbers if you don't mind as I will likely create a GroupMe group to better facilitate communication.
